Every Columbus Day weekend, the Lakes Region Parade of Homes opens the doors to some of New Hampshire’s most impressive residences. With a ticket in hand, guests can step inside beautifully crafted new builds and remodels, meet the builders and designers behind the work, and take in the fall scenery of the Lakes Region. “Guests have the opportunity to tour gorgeous homes in the Lakes Region that were built or extensively remodeled by highly skilled craftsmen in the area,” shared Lorella Volpe, Executive Officer of the Lakes Region Builders & Remodelers Association (or LRBRA).

A Mission Beyond the Tour

The Parade began to showcase top talent in the region and has grown into a signature fall event. Its purpose reaches far beyond design inspiration. Proceeds help fund LRBRA’s workforce initiatives, including the Student Built Homes Project, where high school students from seven districts learn real-world skills by constructing a home from the ground up. Volpe commented, “The job site is a learning-rich environment, and it is also one of the best places for young people to find inspiration and discover new talents.” LRBRA also provides funding for materials, mentoring, scholarships, and training opportunities that support the next generation of skilled trades professionals.

What Sets This Year Apart

For 2025, the Parade includes a first: a featured home on an island in Lake Winnipesaukee. Visitors can also expect dramatic outdoor living spaces, handcrafted timber and woodwork, and breathtaking views throughout several homes. The lineup is evenly split between new builds and extensive remodels, offering inspiration for a wide range of projects.

The Parade is a year in the making. The selection process begins almost 12 months in advance and is finalized by May. Each participating builder is supported by a volunteer ambassador, while a committee of industry professionals handles planning and logistics. This committee of volunteers is what brings the event to life. From Lorella, “The Parade of Homes committee, a group of volunteers in the trades and affiliated industries, are the reason why the Parade is so successful each year.”

Planning Your Visit

Tickets are $25 per person and include access to all homes for both Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission also enters attendees into door prize drawings and, while supplies last, couples receive a swag bag filled with giveaways and magazines. Each ticket allows guests to vote for the People’s Choice Award, adding an interactive element to the weekend.

Guests can start at any home and tour in any order. Organizers recommend downloading the Lakes Region Parade of Homes app to access maps, builder interviews, photos, directions, and other event details. “Meeting the builders and suppliers is a major part of the tour,” explains Lorella. “Each home will be staffed so you can ask questions and learn directly about the design choices.” Visitors should plan ahead, wear socks, and note that restrooms are not available inside the homes

Why You’ll Remember the Lakes Region Parade of Homes

The Parade of Homes is more than a weekend event. It is a chance to discover the craftsmanship that defines the Lakes Region and to walk away with ideas for future projects. Many guests keep their guidebooks as references for builders and suppliers long after the tour has ended.

This year, Rumford Stone is proud to sponsor the Lakes Region Parade of Homes and to be part of the festivities. As a local leader in stone fabrication, Rumford Stone is excited to support an event that celebrates quality building and design in New Hampshire.
